4th of July

This year's 4th was not as exciting as past ones. I missed the pot luck up in SC with my brother and lighting off fireworks. I am really...that is the only reason I get excited about the 4th...not the hotdogs, cokes, swimming, day off work...nope nope...it is the lighting of the explosives that gets me excited. Watching them doesn't really do it for me....sure they are pretty and all but so much more fun to actually be the one lighting them off. I remember two years ago at my brother's where I actually almost blew my face up.
But all in all, this year was new and interesting. We went to the American consulate here in town. Better then sitting at home....

Lael and I

The fireworks only lasted maybe five minutes.

Lael is our Australian friend who really is part American but who never claims to be one. The only time he has is when there will be lots of people around and free food. He couldn't sing the national athem or the pledge of allegiance if his life depended on it! But we still love him.

So, I got bored on the ride home.....so I had Lael and I compete as to who could keep the rose petal stuck to their nose the longest. And in doing so, of course, you have to suck in air which is like holding your breath.....I lost.
