Surprise....

The 28th was our dear roommate, Brookie's, birthday! All of 24 year old. Kelly and I have been scheming for about a week on what we could do to make her feel special and loved.

So....on saturday Kelly and I started blowing up balloons and hid about 40 of them behind her closet. Then on Monday night we waited.........and waited......and waited for Brookie to finally go to bed. I was getting so tired that I told Kelly I was going to lie down. She came and woke me up alittle after midnight....and then the work began!

Kelly and I blew up around 200 balloons....let me tell you, that is a task. About half way through we were light headed and our lips and cheeks felt weird. But we were going to see this job through till the end. ( I have this whole ordeal on video...it is pretty funny).



Next came the tricky part...transporting all 200 and so balloons into Brookie's room without her waking up. Brookie's room has a door from the hall way and then also one from the bathroom. The one from the hall way gets stuck so you have to give it a hard shove to open it. Therefore, we had to go through the bathroom door into her room, which squeaks. We thought ahead and greased down the hinges. Then we grabbed a sheet and loaded up the sheet with as many balloons as we could. We made our way down the hall and into the bathroom. From there we closed the bathroom door and every so carefully opened the door to Brookie's room. It was pitch black, Kelly and I took turns. One position was to be down on the floor handing up the balloons one by one while the other took those balloons and quietly threw them into Brookie's room. The problem was Kelly and I couldn't see each other...so it was alot of bumping around, queaky balloons, and snickers.....surprising and fortunately our roommate is a heavy sleeper.

Two hours later....2AM.....Kelly and I finally finished with the 5th load of balloons. Boy were we tired! We went to bed and then woke up at 5:30AM...only 3 short hours later to make muffins for Brookie and then pick up some Helium balloons. We rushed to to the school and put them into her classroom.

Throughout the day, I had random people deliver a single flower to her. On each flower was written one reason why we loved her. Of course, she ended up with 24 flowers and 24 reasons. It was a fun day...though Kelly and I are still dead tired! What can I say, we are getting old...can't stay up like we used to.

Night Safari

Upon arriving we decided to hold the baby tigers before they closed. Doesn't this look like a safari family portrait?


....it was probably my highlight of the night. They were just so cute!

Muay Thai Boxing

We all headed to this restuarant none of us had been to before. It is a BBQ thai style, place. You pick what type of meat you like (all raw) and then they have this little grill thing in front of you at the table. So we cook our own food. It was a experience. Then we tried to kill time before we left for the boxing.

So, tonight I had the great opportunity to go watch several matches of muay thai boxing. I recently meet Thai (his name) two weeks ago and he is here in Thailand training and fighting in smaller matches. I was so excited when I heard he fought cuz I have been wanting to go to a fight since I have been here.

....but we had to sit through a bunch of other fights before his....the last one for the night, but by far the best fight of the time!!

The only times I have talked to him he is really soft spoken and kind. Man, in the ring he is a whole other person. He fought so well. There was a group of us that went to support him. He ended up completely knocking the guy out in the second round. Kelly, my roommate, has designed some shirts for us and we are going to get them printed off so that come his next game we will be fully representing him. It is really exciting to watch but more exciting when you actually know the person in the ring.

4th of July

This year's 4th was not as exciting as past ones. I missed the pot luck up in SC with my brother and lighting off fireworks. I am really...that is the only reason I get excited about the 4th...not the hotdogs, cokes, swimming, day off work...nope nope...it is the lighting of the explosives that gets me excited. Watching them doesn't really do it for me....sure they are pretty and all but so much more fun to actually be the one lighting them off. I remember two years ago at my brother's where I actually almost blew my face up.
But all in all, this year was new and interesting. We went to the American consulate here in town. Better then sitting at home....

The fireworks only lasted maybe five minutes.

Lael is our Australian friend who really is part American but who never claims to be one. The only time he has is when there will be lots of people around and free food. He couldn't sing the national athem or the pledge of allegiance if his life depended on it! But we still love him.

So, I got bored on the ride home.....so I had Lael and I compete as to who could keep the rose petal stuck to their nose the longest. And in doing so, of course, you have to suck in air which is like holding your breath.....I lost.

Our Goodbye Gift

The last two weeks of school, and four days left to his stay in Thailand....and what do we do to show our love and show how much we will miss him?


TP the House!!!


A group of us girls got together when we knew the boys would be out of their house for a stretch of a couple of hours. If I recall right, I believe we had around 70 rolls of toliet paper. We had so much fun!!!! I think this is the best tp job in a while. Though the tp here isn't as good of quality of that in the US, so it would break easily (plus the fact that it was sprinkling), but with what we had, we did a great job.

Friday Night Fun

Dinner had been done for a while now.....Kelly and I were laying on the bed bored out of our minds, both in our own thoughts. A juvenile thought popped into my head....

"hey Kelly, wonna slide down the stairs in our sleeping bags?"
"YES!!!!" was her reply.

So we jumped up and went downstairs to retrieve our "only once used" sleeping bags. We stood at the top of the stairs, and gazed down...pondering the best way to get down the stairs with the least possible bruises and hopefully no broken bones, yet, still have the exciting thrill of the ride. After not much thought and some lame attempts we figured out that if we put a long cushion in the sleeping back, and then sit on the cushion in the sleeping bag, it was a much faster and smoother ride! It was quite exciting and even Brooke joined in on the fun. A roommate bonding night. Only one of us suffered from any damage, and that poor soul was Kelly, who attempted the stairs going head first. We recommend that people not try this move...it didn't end up so well. She is okay, no broken bones, her main concern was her teeth and they are all there and accounted for; however, the toppling down the stairs head first left some minor bruising and discomfort in her right arm. Nevertheless, her fall brought much laughter to the night!!!!

So is sliding down your stairs fun and worth while?
Heck yes it is but sadly, as Kelly said, "It is fun but the ride is short lived"

Traditional Thai

So at the end of this school year, before everyone parted on their many different paths, we all gathered one day to take traditional thai pictures. Let me tell you....I had such a great time! It was unfortunate that some people missed out on this experience but we hope to do it again next year...just for the giggles.











I would like to point out that I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE WORN THAT MUCH MAKE-UP OR GOLD!!!!!!!
